Description
The General Data Protection Regulation
(GDPR) is a regulation on data protection and privacy in the European Union
(EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). The regulation went into effect on May
25, 2018.
It carries provisions
that require businesses to protect the personal data and privacy of EU citizens
for transactions that occur within EU member states. The GDPR regulates the
exportation of personal data outside the EU.
